The Rajasthan Court of Wards Act, 1951

The Rajasthan Court of Wards Act, 1951 was enacted to consolidate and amend the laws relating to the Court of Wards in Rajasthan. The Act provides a framework for the management and protection of estates belonging to landholders who are deemed incapable of managing their own affairs due to minority, mental incapacity, extravagance, or other disqualifications.
Pre-1951: Rajasthan had multiple princely states, each with its own Court of Wards laws (e.g., Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur).
Post-Unification (1949): After Rajasthan’s formation, these laws were disorganized and overlapping.
1951 Act: Unified all existing laws into a single framework, ensuring consistent estate management across the state
The Rajasthan Court of Wards Act, 1951 modernized estate management in Rajasthan, balancing protection for disqualified landholders with efficient governance. It remains a key law for safeguarding inherited properties and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
